The Pufendorf IAS hosts transdisciplinary work in the form of group based research activities, either as larger themes or in smaller Advanced Study Groups (ASG), which are initiated by researchers from the entire University.

In autumn 2017 - spring 2018 three themes are active;

  • DATA
  • The Nature of Peace
  • Social Innovation

A fourth theme, which will run from spring - autumn 2018, will start up in March 2018:

  • The Air in African Cities

... as well as six ASGs:

  • Commons and Commoning – Human Rights and Sustainability
  • How Evidence-based Practices Handle Conflicting Knowledge: the Case of Hormonal Contraceptives (CON-X)
  • Human Memory in the Digital Age
  • The Roles of Photography in Academic Research and Communication
  • Slow Light – Speeding Up Scientific Advancements

Themes and ASGs work at the Institute for approximately 8-10 months, between September and June the following year.
