This new Pufendorf IAS initiative aims to explore conceptual, theoretical approaches as well as methodological innovations to address processes linked to migration.

- For too long, migration has been viewed as something that creates problems for developed countries, rather than being a part of a social global transformation. We want to open up a transdisciplinary discussion on migration that moves beyond the current, narrowly politicised debate, says Sune Sunesson, Director of the Pufendorf IAS.

 - We will start with a series of seminars and a conference which will run during 2017/2018, says Mine Islar who is the coordinator of the initiative. Our hope is that this will become an arena for dialogue on crosscutting issues on migration such as ecology, politics, archeology and medicine, and we invite researchers from within Lund University and other parts of Sweden to join in and participate in our activities.

The very first seminar in the series - Conflicts and Ecologies of Migration - will take place on 25th September 2017 at the Pufendorf IAS. It will explore the dynamics of migration in relation to resource geographies in a transdisciplinary setting. Invitations and a detailed programme will be issued in July/August.
