CRISIS Ph.D. Workshop – call for abstracts
As an extension of the symposium, the CRISIS Theme is organizing a half-day workshop for doctoral students from Lund University. The workshop will take place at the Pufendorf Institute on 18th November 2019, from 9 to 12. The aim of the workshop is to engage younger researchers in further discussions around the issue of crisis from a multi-disciplinary perspective. We are therefore seeking contributions from doctoral students at any stage of their research whose dissertation project touches upon the concept of crisis.
Examples of relevant topics include, but are not limited to: environmental sustainability; migration; gender inequalities; global health; democracy and political participation.
Since the aim of the workshop is to encourage and facilitate a multi-disciplinary discussion on a wide range of topics and approaches to the study of crisis, we are open to a variety of contributions, be they theoretical, empirical, or methodological.
During the workshop, doctoral students will have the opportunity to present, discuss, and receive expert feedback on their paper.
Interested candidates should submit an abstract (maximum 300 words) summarizing the topic of their paper. The deadline for abstract submission is 16/10/2019. Successful candidates will be notified by 16/10/2019, and will be required to send a full paper by 4/11/2019. Full papers should be between 3000-7000 words. Accepted papers will be circulated among workshop participants, and each participant will also be assigned a reader/discussant from the CRISIS Theme. Being accepted to the PhD workshop will also entitle participants to attend the full symposium, including the symposium dinner on 21st October. Please note that we are unable to cover travel and/or accommodation expenses for PhD candidates.
