Let us talk about your dream forests: Towards more sustainable futures
Envision the forests of the future: What possibilities and challenges do you foresee? In your “dream forest model,” can economic, environmental and social dimensions co-exist in a more sustainable way than today? Welcome to an interactive workshop where researchers facilitate discussions on Swedish forests, and you get the chance to illustrate the future.
Sweden is a world-leading supplier of forest products, and its timber industry relies on intensive management, with clear-cutting as dominant harvesting method. Can we rethink this approach and explore more sustainable forestry models?
This event is designed as an interactive workshop and aims to engage participants in an open discussion about how the Swedish forestry model can be made more sustainable.
The event begins with a brief thematic introduction, after which participants are divided into smaller groups. These group discussions are facilitated by researchers from the Pufendorf theme “Let’s Talk about Swedish Forests: From Polarisation to Sustainable Transition”. Within these groups, participants collaboratively create a poster illustrating their vision of sustainable forests, integrating economic, environmental and social dimensions and imagining the forests of your dreams. The event concludes with a walk through the future when participants present their posters and reflect on their pathways to more sustainable futures. Fika included.
