Multidisciplinary Light Research

This publication is about light and light’s significance for people. Twelve researchers with widely differing backgrounds get together to discuss issues that cross boundaries. What is light actually? How can we understand light? How does it affect us? In what ways can we utilise it? What technical possibilities do we have to create and control different kinds of light? What opportunities does it give us in the future?

Cooperation and innovative thought are at the centre of the dialogue. There are insights into perspectives on light from areas such as biology, technology, materials, physics, aesthetics, philosophy, medicine and psychology. All in all, these perspectives present Lund’s interdisciplinary light-related expertise in a lucid and comprehensible way.

The group of experts hopes that the questions posed and the answers given in this publication will inspire and lead to advances in the field of light research. Together with the Pufendorf IAS, which enabled the expert group’s initiative to grow and develop, they will, in other words, turn the spotlight on “light”!
