Agriculture in the future – society, safety and health

ASG 2025

Agriculture in the 21st century faces multiple challenges. An ongoing war in Europe, climate change, a growing global population and changing diets are driving up the demand for food.

The aim of this initiative is to create a multidisciplinary cooperation platform focused on agricultural risks for human health. This interdisciplinary project involves researchers with background in ecology, biodiversity, aerosol science, chemistry, toxicology and archaeology.

The overall goal is to identify cross-sectoral environmental issues and promote ideas towards a more sustainable agricultural environment in Southern Sweden. This ASG will discuss historic practices and future challenges in agriculture in order to increase human health and well-being as well as productivity.

Strategies include targeting new environmental stressors (due to changing climate) and societal needs (aging population, increased sensitization and prevalence of disease) while at the same time striving for the sustainable use of resources.
