Neurotechnologies: Delivering their responsible development and use
THEME 2025-2026
Neurotechnologies – tools that can measure, influence, or even alter brain activity – are advancing quickly, offering powerful applications in both healthcare and everyday life. But with such potential comes responsibility.
Researchers within this Theme will be investigating the ethical, legal, and societal implications of neurotechnological development and commercialization. Bringing together neuroscientists, ethicists, legal experts, economists, and policymakers, the Theme will explore how to balance innovation with human rights protection, financial transformation with ethical accountability.
By studying stakeholder perspectives and fostering public debate, the Theme aims to guide the responsible use of neurotechnologies in Sweden and contribute to global conversations on their regulation and societal impact.
