Interconnections within STEAM

ASG 2026

Science and art might seem worlds apart, but what happens when they join forces? How can these disciplines truly collaborate - not just coexist - to spark new ideas and transform research?

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach has long been used in pedagogical contexts, from early childhood to teacher training. However, its application within research, research education, and research communication remains underdeveloped.

This ASG explores how to use STEAM as a framework for interdisciplinary research.

The key research questions are: How can artistic and scientific research inform each other in structured collaborations? Where do their methods and concepts align, and where do tensions arise? And how can these insights lead to innovative models for future projects? From mapping voice qualities through physical, biological, and metaphorical lenses to identifying shared ground across disciplines, the research group aims to create practical strategies that put creativity at the centre of discovery.
