With great sadness we announce that Sture Forsén passed away in the early hours of January 13th. His passing leaves us greatly bereaved; he was a good friend and colleague, with a sense of humor, always eager to learn and who was excited by many things, and he was always curious about people and science.
Sture was known for his drive and unyielding desire to see science put to good use. This was a golden thread through his own research and the strategic work he carried out for Lund University.
Sture's vision of an interdisciplinary, cross-faculty incubator for new research ideas more than 25 years agolaid the foundation for the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies. Sture was the institute's first director in the years 2009 - 2012.
After leaving his directorship, he remained at the institute as a senior scientific advisor. He was active and committed here until the end.
We will miss the zeal with which he tackled anything that caught his interest, whether it was a scientific problem, fascinating researchers or new recordings of beloved classical works - Sture had a great love for the arts and music was his passion. Above all, we will miss his warmth, humor and enthusiasm for the frontier possibilities of science. This was what he gave us and what we will pass on in his spirit.
