Relentless Existential Threats - stretching across disciplines and dimensions to foster existential well-being and sustainability
Welcome to a half-day workshop at Lund University, organised by the Pufendorf Theme Relentless Existential Threats (2023-2024).
In this workshop we will discuss interdisciplinary, overarching aspects for existential well-being and sustainability that incorporates perspectives of time, connectedness, and agency.
Existential threat – an experienced threat to someone or something’s existence – ranges from threat to the self (ordinary dying), to an ideology, and even to a society. Existential threat is a powerful force on individuals and societies, affecting our decisions often below conscious awareness, and which calls for some kind of preparedness. Many theories and models for understanding and addressing existential threats overlap, yet at first glance seem very different. The Pufendorf IAS Theme Relentless Existential Threats discusses and explores these similarities and differences to foster existential well-being across an individual, social, and global level. During this workshop, you will get a glimpse into the Themes´ collaborative work.
